New Curtain for My New House - 2011

A look into the tombs than once would belong to us or we would belong to them. It probably should be the simplest home we will ever live in. The idea of this project began when I started visiting cemetery more often and realized how much of attention has been put on decorating these tombs, how fancy they all looked, how they all had a character. I would draw the curtain covering these tombs and could feel the existence of the person buried there by the way objects were decorated .I could guess their age, their social status and their personality. As if they became more than an acquaintance to me. While these rooms were built to be a simple private place, they became something more meaningful. And the more I looked into them the more I found how different and detailed they all were.
